If user have already tried during its session similar connection (\\srv-dc\anything) you have to only supplant the server proper name with e.m. ip adress of server. For windows enviroment this is different connection and new mapping then former mappings will not accept impact on new one.

Suggestions:

1. How near CD/DVD with the software?  (Not sure how strict your company'southward policy is, or how frequently the software changes.)

2. Set up a divide server, maybe even a virtual one, that is used just for the admin-level shares.  That way the users won't e'er have a connection to that server, and as before long as you endeavor to map a drive to it, it should ask for credentials instead of complaining that the user is already connected to it.

3. If the software is fairly small and comes in a single-executable installation file, you tin can use Sharepoint or another kind of spider web-based system that can agree/store files and requires a login to access where they're stored.

Notation: # 3 has the added advantage that you lot don't need to worry about disconnecting your share afterwards the installation, just log out of the website and close the browser.
